Srinagar, Dec 03 (KNO): Despite passing of nearly three years, the Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) has completed only 75 percent of work of Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla. The corporation is likely to miss the deadline for the completion of the project. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), till November-2021, JKPCC was yet to complete around 25 percent of the works. The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, P K Pole in a meeting held earlier this week was informed that the revised completion deadline of the project was December-2021. “However, only 75 percent of progress has been achieved till date and work on the project is in full swing.” In the meeting, Pole was also apprised that out of eight blocks, four will be ready by the end of December-2021. KNO has also learnt that the concerned authorities have informed the Divisional Commissioners office that army authorities have raised objections to the construction of a multi storied administration building. “The army authorities, JKPCC and the District Administration are on board and will take some time for its resolution,” the concerned authorities told Pole. Besides, Pole in the meeting asked to explore the possibility for completion of the inner works like water, electricity fitting etcetera of the building to which the army has raised objections till final disposal. The Divisional Commissioner directed the Additional Deputy Commissioner, KPDCL, Public Health Engineering (PHE) Baramulla to ensure power and water supply to the hospital by or before December-15-2021.”The Principal GMC shall immediately place indent in this regard.” In the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla requested for more manpower needed to be deployed for the completion of the project on time. In the meantime, Pole reminded the concerned authorities the about the issue of merging of 60 Kanals of Industries department land with the hospital for future expansion of the GMC, to which it was informed by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla that in lieu of that 750 Kanals of land has been identified outside the Baramulla Town but no formal indent has been placed before the district administration.—(KNO)
